A STORY OF BEST CUP OF COFFEE

At a college reunion, a group of friends visited their favorite professor who they grew close to back when they were still students...

The prof was happy to catch up with them, ask them about their family, their work and everything going on.

Their conversation soon turned into complaints about the stress in their work and home life...
Noticing all the negativity, the prof then excused himself saying he'll get them some coffee...

A few minutes later he came out with a large pot of coffee with an assortment of cups--porcelain, crystal, plastic, glass... some were broken, some expensive, some plain looking...

Then he told his former students to each grab a cup.

When all his former students had a cup in hand, the professor said:

“Notice that you all took the nice looking cups, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones.
While its normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee.

What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups… and then you began eyeing each other’s cups."

....
In today's age with social media, it's so easy to compare what we have with others...
"Uy - nakapag Maldives na sila! Ang ganda ng scuba pictures nya.
Wow nakabili na sila ng bahay!"

Now it's nice to be genuinely happy for them and wanting what other's have is not necessarily bad.
UNLESS...

It distracts you from your own life goals.

If you're trying to build a business... so what if your friend just took a month long trip in Eastern Europe?
Ignore #travelgoals. Focus on #buildyourbusiness

If you're at a point in your life where you're raising a family of 2 kids, and you're trying to build an emergency fund for security...

Does it really matter if you haven't watched Guns N' Roses live in Manila concert?

Nowadays it's so easy to be distracted by what everyone else is doing... We forget about what truly matters in our own lives and our own goals.

(Sadly, some people don't even have goals... but just follow along what's trending)

So if anything, I hope this post serves as a reminder to focus.

Focus on what matters to you right now at this stage in your life.
.
.
.
Now if one of your goals is to get a big win in your financial life before the year ends...

Where to start?

Where to start? This is the first question in mind of NEWBIES in personal finance or on how to achieve financial freedom. This is same question, I answered years back and I would like to give you my advise on where to start in your financial journey:

First, Do your SALN. Statement of Assets,Liabilities and Net Worth , this is how much you own and how much you owed? Be honest in doing this exercise. You need to know where you stand currently on your finances.

Second, Financial Vision & Mission. Most companies has vision and mission, this is also applicable in yourself. You should have a vision, e.g. 5 years from now , I will be able to come home without any financial worries and my passive income will support my daily living expenses and my mission is to help newbies in their finance journey in achieving financial freedom.

Third, Get the numbers right. This involves a calculation of your monthly budget or should I say Forecasting - preparing for the expected expenses or your necessary expenses to survive without digging debts.

Fourth, Spend and invest wisely. Set a specific amount that you are going to spend for a year and invest the excess cash. This is the start of your investing journey and picking only those investments that will match your objectives.

Fifth,  Think long term. Every time you are going to make a decisions in your finances look at the long term benefits and don't be a short sighted. It's better to practice delay gratification and enjoy the fruits later.

Looking forward to your Financial Freedom.

Journey to Filipino Financial Freedom

How to achieve Financial Freedom?

This is a common question from OFW's abroad especially those  already spent more than 10 years abroad. They left our homeland and went back with the same situation, no savings, no investments and not able to retire. These cases should stop and let's help the next generation of our families to learn how to handle money properly.

My Favourite Stocks for Long Term

Today, PSEi is on a red territory trading at  7700 - 7800 level. We need to be alert of a good buying point level. I'm not bearish on the market and I can see gains at the end of year 2018 for a good amount. The level of my buying point is below 7500, I feel more safe, for traders it will be against their principles. Traders wait for a reversal point, if there is no sign they will stay on the sidelines.

What is the right stocks strategy???

The market is moving on a crazy directions, it keeps going down and after few days bounce back again. This is true that nobody has a crystal ball to predict where the market is going.

I still keep receiving inquiries and messages,  what should be the right strategy during these exciting times in PSEi?
Though, I stopped trading and pick a long term investing strategy. I can still give you an advise that will be applicable whether you are investing or trading.

What makes you happy?

Happiness is “the meaning and purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.” "GRS Blog"

Everyone is searching on ways how to be happy. Each individual has different meaning of Happiness. It can be doing what you love (refers to daily job task), travelling around the world (leisure time), spending quality time with your family, getting promotions ( career progress), attending Sunday worships or mass (spiritual activity) , volunteering on health missions (community involvement), etc. etc.

My own meaning of happiness is working on my inner calling, doing it every single day, and align it in my daily living. For example, I'm happy playing with my baby daughters and providing for their daily needs (being a good father), eating out with my wife in a restaurant (being a good husband), delivering reports to my Director (being a good finance controller), teaching students achieve their CPA dreams and financial freedom (being a good mentor) and attending weekly household and community gatherings (for spiritual growth).

Those happiness activities aligned with my purpose in life : To become a good Father to my kids, a loving husband to my wife, best Finance Controller and Mentor to my students, colleagues and community, to glorify him in everyday living and leave a lasting legacy.

To be happy is doing your purpose in life.

What about you?

Share your happiness activities.

Sincerely yours,

PSEi Correction @ 7600

Every time PSEi hit 7800, possible to touch the 7600 level as per my observation. CAVEAT!!! not for the faint heart.

As per above COL Technical Outlook can hit at 6500 level same as C wave in the past. As history repeats itself, there is always a possibility to follow the same pattern.

I'm looking for possible entry points for some favorite index stocks:

AGI      @    10.84
DMC    @    10.42
DNL     @      9.55
SHLPH @     48
MBT      @    80.20
MEG      @     4.07
FGEN    @     15.65

Those are stocks on my watchlist and planning to add if it touches my entry point. I turned to value investing because of time and currently working full time but I kept myself updated on technical analysis as this is my first love.

Money Talks UAE 2018

For the last 3 years, I'm keeping to myself how I suffered financially because I'm ashame that I made a lot of financial mistakes and be judge that I failed in my financial journey as a licensed CPA, Master's degree graduate, entrepreneur and financial blogger,  but yesterday during Money Talks UAE 2018 was another turning point of my life.

I unloaded my financial bagagges and be myself during the DIY - Financial Planning session with Ms. Salve Duplito, she hit the soft spot of attendees and share how to vision their future self at the
age 60.

I cannot drew clearly because of financial mistakes keep flashing in my head, it's like pushing me back to my past during those times that I lost my job and ran out of emergency funds, unloaded my red stocks with big amount of losses, my first condo unit that was foreclosed by bank, sold my first beach property, a time that started to pile up my credit card debts, personal loans, my wife's delivery of second baby without health insurance, insufficient fund receipt from ATM while on exit and recently sold my second condo unit at a loss.

I cannot see the end of tunnel and keep going back to zero or nothing, but Ms. Salve said she believed in me and I could stand up and  be brave enough to start all over again. She said to the class to pray for me. Tears overflow and even until today when I arrived at the office in front my desk, the determination to start again is like a burning fire.

I want to share this story because there are many OFW's that could be on the same situation where I stand right now, from Rags to Riches, Riches to Rags, Rags to ______ . I will keep the third part of financial journey in blank for the next 5 years and stick to my financial plans.

I stopped blogging because I cannot walk the talk and lost the hope to get away from this financial mess. Yesterday was a wake up call or my "turon moments", this hugot line inspires me:

Ms. Salve, once again "THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND MORE POWER". KEEP INSPIRING OUR KABABAYAN'S.

I will never forget and treasure my  own "TURON" moments.

For Sir Randell, Sir Marvin, Sir Carl and Maestro Tony, all of you never get tired of teaching and inspiring Filipinos abroad. Thank you very much.

MONEY TALKS UAE Volunteers especially Franz. MABUHAY PO KAYO.

KEEP INSPIRING OUR KABABAYAN'S.
